Ukrainian and Swedish Ministries of Defence signed a Letter of Intent in Stockholm on partnership in defence innovation. The document opens new opportunities for bringing Swedish technologies and investments into Ukraine’s defence industry, and will foster deeper cooperation and Ukraine’s integration into the European innovation and industrial ecosystem.

The immediate prospects for cooperation include advancing military innovations to accelerate their practical implementation and developing joint production initiatives. The delegations also discussed prospects for cooperation in military aviation, including training for pilots and collaborative projects between Swedish and Ukrainian companies.

In addition, Sweden announced plans to allocate around another USD 8 billion for military support to Ukraine in 2026–2027. The officials discussed the development of air capabilities, including potential deliveries of Gripen fighter jets, as well as the joint development of surface-to-air interceptors and radar production.
