Ukraine and the United Kingdom have signed a licensing agreement that will allow the British side to start producing Ukraine’s Octopus interceptor drones.
This is a historic precedent and an important step that enables the establishment of production in the UK of effective interceptors against Russian "Shahed" drones. The drones manufactured in Britain will be supplied to Ukraine, and the potential serial production volume could reach several thousand units per month.
Octopus is a Ukrainian interceptor drone created by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in cooperation with the United Kingdom. It performs effectively at night, under conditions of electronic warfare, and at low altitudes. The concept is to provide Ukraine with an affordable and technologically simple tool to counter enemy drones, reducing the burden on expensive air-defence systems.
The interceptor entered serial production in November, and earlier the UK announced plans to manufacture approximately 2,000 units per month.
