Aequo acts for Naftogaz in a USD 16 billion international arbitration proceedings

Aequo acted in a team with Wikborg Rein as a counsel to a Naftogaz in 2018 SCC arbitration proceedings initiated by Gazprom to amend (or invalidate) the long-term gas supply and/or transit contract between the client and the Russian counterpart. In response to the opponent’s initial claims for over USD 6.7 billion, the client lodged its counter-claim to make Gazprom liable for its breaches of numerous obligations under the gas supply and transit contracts and to compensate for the resultant damages with a total amount of claims of USD 16 billion.
