Aequo Presents Its Sustainability Report 2025
Resilience, responsibility, and growth remained at the heart of Aequo’s work throughout another year of unprecedented challenges. Today, the firm is pleased to present the Aequo Sustainability Report 2025, highlighting its contribution to Ukraine’s recovery, the development of the legal profession, investment in future legal talent, and support for projects that strengthen the country’s economic resilience.
In 2025, Ukraine’s recovery increasingly took the form of tangible projects, investments, and institutional transformation. New infrastructure initiatives, advances in defence technologies, and growing investment activity are gradually shaping the foundations of the country’s future. Throughout the year, Aequo continued to support these processes by helping create legal frameworks and solutions that enable progress even under wartime conditions.
“2025 is the year when recovery is no longer a concept, but a process unfolding through real projects, investments, and institutional change,” says Oleksiy Filatov, Senior Partner at Aequo. “In this context, our role is to ensure that these processes are legally structured in a way that works in practice – under pressure, across jurisdictions, and over time.”
For Aequo, sustainability is not a standalone initiative. It is an approach that guides how the firm advises clients, supports public institutions, develops its people, and contributes to society.
Throughout the year, Aequo continued to support Ukraine through pro bono projects, charitable initiatives, and active participation in systemic reforms. The firm contributed to the development of Ukraine’s defence-tech ecosystem, collaborated with the Brave1 platform and the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, supported the work of the Supervisory Board of the Defence Procurement Agency, participated in the development of the Register of Damage for Ukraine, and provided comprehensive legal support to the Superhumans Center.
Aequo also remained committed to strengthening the legal profession, supporting professional organisations, contributing to international legal dialogue, and participating in initiatives aimed at enhancing trust in Ukraine’s judicial system.
Developing future legal talent continued to be a key priority. Through the Aequo Friends internship programme, the Future Lawyer Summer School, university partnerships, and mentoring initiatives, the firm helped aspiring lawyers gain practical experience and prepare for successful careers in law.
At the same time, Aequo continued investing in the growth of its own people. Today, the firm brings together 94 professionals, while more than one-third of its employees have advanced to higher positions within the organisation. This focus on developing leaders from within reflects Aequo’s belief that people are its most valuable asset and the foundation of long-term sustainability.
The report also highlights the firm’s work across energy, defence, finance, infrastructure, agribusiness, healthcare, and other strategically important sectors of the economy. These projects demonstrate how legal expertise can contribute to business growth, institutional resilience, and Ukraine’s recovery.
Aequo extends its gratitude to its clients, partners, and team members for their trust, collaboration, and shared commitment to building a stronger future for Ukraine.
