Aequo acts as a counsel to the EBRD in connection with a Usd 10,000,000 loan to Astarta to replenish working capital

AEQUO advised the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the Ukrainian law matters of granting a USD 10,000,000 loan to Astarta, Ukraine’s leading agribusiness operator with over 230,000 hectares of arable farm land, sugar plants, a soybean processing factory and dairy farms.

The loan is provided under  extraordinary circumstances during the Covid-19 crisis that have impacted the economy and limited new lending opportunities in the markets. The additional tranche extends the working capital facility approved in 2018 to Astarta Group and will help it implement plans related to the introduction of the precision farming in Ukraine through the employment of necessary modern IT solutions.

AEQUO lawyers assisted with the drafting and execution of the financing documentation, numerous security agreements and issued legal opinions in favour of EBRD. In addition to Ukrainian law, the project included English, Dutch and Cypriot law matters.

“Our team is very honoured to have assisted EBRD in its endeavours aimed at supporting Ukrainian businesses, affected by the Covid-19 crisis. We believe that additional financing would help Astarta to overcome these challenging times, as well as increase its efficiency and productivity”, comments Yulia Kyrpa.
