Aequo is delighted to announce that Anna Babych, Partner, Head of Corporate / M&A, has been admitted as a Solicitor of England and Wales as of August 08, 2018. Prior to that, Anna Babych became the first partner with a Ukrainian law firm who successfully sat Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS) exam in the UK and was qualified as a non-practicing solicitor (England and Wales) in March 2016. Anna has completed her Legal Practice Course with BPP University, United Kingdom.

Moreover, she contributed to the initiative aimed to make Ukrainian lawyers become eligible to be admitted as Solicitors of England and Wales.

Denis Lysenko, Aequo’s Managing Partner, commented: “We are very proud to congratulate Anna on her admission as a Solicitor of England and Wales. It demonstrates her longstanding commitment to professional development and client care and is specifically beneficial to our Corporate/M&A and Private Client practices in terms of advising on investments, M&A transactions and private wealth management.”

Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS) is a series of tests for the license to practice as solicitor in England and Wales designed for foreign licensed attorneys making the qualification process faster than the standard procedure. The QLTS system ensures that a lawyer, admitted to the Bar in another jurisdiction, has the necessary knowledge and skills to act as a qualified solicitor in England and Wales.

The SRA, established in January 2007, is the regulator of solicitors and law firms in England and Wales. Its purpose is to protect the public by ensuring that solicitors meet high standards, and by acting when risks are identified. It regulates more than 180,000 solicitors in England and Wales.
