Aequo Partner Tatiana Kudrytska spoke at the 20th Oleg Makarov Forum “Development of the Legal Services Market” – in a panel dedicated to the interaction of legal education, the market and young lawyers.

For Aequo, this discussion is fundamentally important. We systematically work on the development of legal education – through cooperation with universities, student organizations and involving practitioners in the educational process. Our goal is to ensure that the bridge between all stakeholders is established and effective.

Speaking about the mutual expectations of firms and junior lawyers, Tatiana emphasized that the legal profession involves continuous learning – regardless of experience or position. Law firms themselves must also respond to modern realities:

“The legal market has changed significantly over the past 15–20 years, and those law firms that have not adapted to the changes in the generation and the demands of our new junior colleagues are losing a lot, including their positions in the market,” – Tatiana Kudrytska.

A special emphasis was placed on the role of university education. It forms the base, but cannot produce a “ready-made” specialist according to a checklist of skills. The key remains the ability to think, learn and gain applied experience while studying – through practical courses, moot courts and working with real documents.

As a mentor at Aequo, Tetyana also emphasized the importance of early involvement of junior lawyers in project work. It is not about the mechanical use of ready-made templates, but about the ability to adapt them to a specific client and project, to understand the industry and context. This is how experience is formed, which allows young lawyers to work independently with complex projects over time.

Thank you to the Ukrainian Bar Association for the meaningful discussion and the unification of all participants in the legal community!
