Denis Lysenko, executive partner at Aequo, spoke at the 20th Forum "Development of the Legal Services Market" named after Oleh Makarov, joining the discussion on the transformation of partnerships and legal business management.

During the forum, Denis shared Aequo's approach to partnership development, which is based on trust, shared experience, and team decision-making. A significant portion of the firm's partners are lawyers with whom the team has traveled a long shared path, positively influencing the culture and sustainability of the firm. At the same time, Aequo also has examples of successful integration of partners from the market—provided that before joining the partnership, the parties have the opportunity to work together and verify compatibility in real working situations.

Denis Lysenko paid special attention to the partnership track and certain requirements for partners at Aequo, outlining key areas of responsibility and the role of partners in the development of the firm:

"We have clear requirements for partners regarding financial performance, teamwork, as well as participation in the firm's administrative functions. Yes, executive partners are more involved in this, but we encourage all partners – regardless of their tenure in the partnership – to participate in projects that the firm implements and, in particular, to be drivers of these processes,” said Denis Lysenko. At the same time, our approach to partnership involves an individual consideration of each case, where formal criteria are complemented by a live professional discussion.

Denіs also emphasized that partnership decisions at Aequo are made by consensus, as partnership is a shared responsibility for the development of the firm and its future.

We thank the Ukrainian Bar Association for a meaningful discussion and for creating a space for professional dialogue.
